We, the undersigned New Mexicans, ask our Governor to use the legal agreements and permits to enforce limits on the Department of Energy’s (DOE) mission for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
We urge the Governor to stop DOE from exposing New Mexicans to unacceptable risk from increased shipments, more dangerous radioactive waste, longer distances traveled, and for a longer time.
The Governor must require DOE to prioritize Legacy Waste removal from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and to site a repository in another state. We support the Governor taking all these necessary actions because DOE continues to ignore its agreements with the people of New Mexico
