The Bowls Auckland Annual Awards is our chance to recognise those whose passion and commitment go above and beyond! From standout players to devoted club volunteers, to inspiring club initiatives — this is your chance to shine a spotlight on them.

Your nomination can make a real difference — the more detail and examples you share, the better their chance of being celebrated.

How to nominate
- Nominations are open to everyone – individuals and clubs alike.
- You can submit multiple nominations to recognise different deserving people or projects.
- Use the Nomination Form to enter - be sure to include examples, achievements, and supporting info to back up your nomination.
- All nominations must meet the Awards Criteria and relate to the current playing season: 1 July 2024 – 30 June 2025.
- Clubs must be affiliated with Bowls Auckland.

Winners will be selected by an Awards Panel and announced at the Bowls Auckland Awards Luncheon on Sunday, 6 July 2025.

CLUB INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR

AWARD CRITERIA & NOMINATION INFORMATION

Award Criteria
This award seeks to recognise a club for a project or initiative undertaken during
1 July 2024 – 30 June 2025 and meets one or more of the following key focus areas.
- Youth Engagement (delivering bowling opportunities to schools or youth).
- Social Bowls League (setting up a new Twilight League or a significant improvement).
- Community Engagement (delivering bowling opportunities to a targeted group).
- Coach Development or Coaching Programme (either developing new coaches or delivering a coaching programme for your members or potential members).
- Umpire Development or Umpiring Programme.
- Marketing (a new initiative the club undertook through marketing, especially digital marketing – this could be renewing your website, starting a TikTok page etc).
- Other.

CLUB OF THE YEAR

AWARD CRITERIA & NOMINATION INFORMATION

Award Criteria
1. Evidence of current and active strategic and operation plan.
2. Sound financial management.
3. A planned approach to retaining and growing participants and evidence of this success (especially in the 1-5 Year category).
4. The Club actively support the delivery of Auckland Centre Events.
5. Evidence the club is having growth or at least keeping coach and umpire numbers, and they are actively supporting their development.
6. Evidence of an outstanding contribution to the success, enjoyment, growth or profile of the game in your community.

Nomination Information
1. Strategic Planning
Please supply a copy of your current strategic plan and your annual operations plan. Please outline how your Club is undertaking leadership towards a sustainable future.
2. Financial capability
Please supply examples of what the Club has done about implementing sound financial management.
3. Participation
Please outline the plans and processes the Club has for the recruitment and induction of new members, participants and management club volunteers.
4. Coaches and Umpires
Evidence that the Club is growing or at least keeping coach and umpire numbers and is actively supporting their development.
5. Growth
Please outline any projects or strategies that have enabled the club to grow over the past 12 months..

CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR

AWARD CRITERIA & NOMINATION INFORMATION

Award Criteria
1. The Nominee is a club member or part of your club community who selflessly contributes their time and energy to making the club a wonderful place to be. Their contribution could include one of the following ways:
  - a serving administrator whose high organisational standards and skills elevate the club in its day-to-day activities.
  - a volunteer’s outstanding effort, contribution or achievement to the club, who has special traits and skills that have a positive impact on the club. This person should show initiative.
  - is held in high esteem by their peers, who is a positive influence and reflect the camaraderie and generosity of spirit that is prevalent in their club.
2. Demonstrates effective planning and implementation.
3. Works tirelessly to cultivate the club's culture and growth.
4. Demonstrates how to successfully implement change or introduce a new initiative.
5. Brings honour and respect to the game of bowls and is recognised in the wider bowls community and beyond.

2. Planning & implementation
Please explain and supply examples on how the nominee has contributed to growth, success, enjoyment or profile of the game through effective planning and implementation of the plans.

Please detail the contribution made at a local level, towards promoting bowls initiatives, and supply evidence of the nominee’s commitment to the strategic direction of the sport.
