The Naples Airport is more than a transportation hub; it is a cornerstone of our community’s economy, safety, and connectivity. Restricting it would have far-reaching negative consequences that outweigh the concerns being raised.
By signing this petition, we express our strong support for preserving the Naples Airport and urge our elected officials to seek balanced and forward-thinking solutions and stop any efforts to harm the airport.
We, residents of Naples and Collier County, oppose the Naples City Council’s discussions on disrupting, relocating, or closing the Naples Airport due to noise and air traffic concerns. While community concerns matter, limiting the airport is not a viable solution for our town, county, or Southwest Florida.
Why Naples Airport Must Be Protected:
• Economic Impact: The airport is a key economic driver, supporting thousands of jobs, supporting real estate values, and generating nearly a billion dollars in direct economic impact. Our businesses and tourism depend on it. The airport contributes to the prosperity of all Naples and Collier County residents.
• Emergency and Safety Operations: The airport plays a crucial role in emergency services; hurricane relief efforts, medical airlifts, mosquito control and law enforcement operations, and training young pilots to lead the future of aviation.
• Balanced Solutions Exist: Advancing aviation technology is reducing noise and emissions, making closure unnecessary. Improved regulations, noise abatement, and community engagement are successfully addressing concerns while preserving the airport’s value.
Our Request:
We, the concerned citizens of Naples and Collier County, respectfully urge the Naples Airport Authority to:
1. Stop the allocation of millions of taxpayer dollars towards proposals, studies, or plans to restrict, relocate, or close the Naples Airport, especially when those funds could be more effectively invested in other community priorities.
2. Commit to implementing sustainable and innovative solutions that balance the needs of the community, the airport, and the environment.
Similarly, we urge the Naples City Council to appoint Naples Airport Authority Board commissioners with demonstrated airport experience and knowledge, who can effectively represent the interests of all airport stakeholders and the broader community.
Together, let us protect this vital community asset for current and future generations.
