  • Open Call for Motwani Jadeja U.S.-India Fellowship

    The Motwani Jadeja U.S.-India fellowship under the India and Indian Ocean program is a six-month long hybrid fellowship opportunity for young Americans pursuing India studies, South Asian studies or other international relations and security subjects to engage in research, study and travel to India. The fellowship seeks to foster the next generation of American scholars studying India through mentorship, guidance and support. Fellows will be trained in objective research practices, writing skills and acquainted with cultural sensitivities. They will have the opportunity to learn from esteemed scholars and former government officials. Toward the end of the fellowship, candidates will to travel to India as part of a field visit. 
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations, history, political science or related subjects 
    • Keen interest in India, Indian foreign policy, Indian Ocean security and other related topics  
    • Analytical writing skills  
  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Holds a Masters or working toward one in international relations, political science, South Asia studies, India studies or Asian studies  
    • Keen interest in India, Indian Ocean security and other related topics  
    • Experience gained through internships and work experience at think tanks 
    • Excellent analytical writing skills with multiple publications
  • Eligibility and How to Apply

    • Between the ages of 18 and 31 at the time of applying 

    • Must be a US Citizen

    • A letter of recommendation 

    • A description of a research project to undertake as a Fellow (not to exceed 1,500 words)
