Linguistics Fieldwork on Variation in Speech
Thank you for taking the time to fill out this short survey. For the end of semester assessment for my linguistics class (LIN1FOL), I am doing a study on the variations of speech and I need recordings of people's voices to gather my data for analysis. Because of the nature of this survey, using a device with an inbuilt microphone is recommended. Please complete and submit this form promptly so I have as much time as possible to study the recordings. - Maddi B
Recording Your Voice
Below this text are a series of questions with voice recording buttons. The first five questions are about you and you simply need to record yourself answering the question. You do not need to state the question, but try to speak in full sentences. For the final two questions you just need to read the words as written. These recordings will not be shared, and if you are not comfortable answering a question, state 'no answer'.
1. What is your full name?
*
2. What year were you born in and how old does that make you?
*
3. How would you define your gender?
*
4. Where were you born and where do you live now?
*
5. Tell me something interesting about yourself?
*
6. ' Wrath, Ferry, Dance, Chewed, Future, Ceremony, Borrow, Brow, Salary, Hostile, Further, Drawers, Abbot, Elk, Blackberry, Ode, Furrow, Butter.'
*
7. 'On Tuesday, the lawyer found four angry lemons, a bottle of fairy milk, and a fertile canary but no celery, at the mouth of the goat path.'
*
Did you have any difficulties with these questions, or do you have a question about the study?
