VIA DOLOROSA

In 1997, renowned British playwright David Hare made a journey of discovery to Israel and Palestine. His goal was to observe and learn, to explore values, belief systems, and a landscape in conflict. His interactions with both Jews and Palestinians opened the door to understanding the roots of the disputes which to this day are spiraling into an even deeper humanitarian and political conflict, threatening to devolve into a crisis of genocidal proportions.

Although originally written to be performed by Hare himself, Bart Guingona takes us on the writer’s journey, treating him as a character, opening us to viewpoints on both sides of the story. VIA DOLOROSA invites theatregoers to reflect on a complex history through multiple perspectives.
