DA2PP or DHPP: (Distemper, Hepatitis or Adeno2 virus, Para influenza and Parvo-virus)Distemper is a neurological disease that is fatal. Adenovirus presents as a respiratory illness or hepatitis. Parainfluenza affects the respiratory system. Parvovirus suppresses the function and production of white blood cells and can be fatal.
Leptospirosis is a bacteria spread by wildlife and ingested by dogs drinking out of puddles or other bodies of water. It can be contacted by people so it is a human health concern.
Rabies is a fatal neurological disease that can be spread to all mammals through contact with saliva.
Bordetella This vaccination is given to prevent contagious tracheobronchitis or “kennel cough.”
Canine Influenza (H3N8 and H3N2)"Dog flu" is a highly contagious viral infection affecting dogs. Canine influenza is transmitted through droplets or aerosols containing respiratory secretions from coughing, barking, and sneezing. Dogs in close contact with infected dogs in places such as kennels, groomers, daycare facilities, and shelters are at increased risk of infection.
Lyme (Borrelia) Lyme disease is transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. Clinical signs of Lyme disease may not appear for several months after a dog is infected and including fever. Lethargy, painful joints, and inappetence. It is important that pets also receive a monthly tick preventative in addition to the vaccination because ticks can transmit other diseases besides Lyme.
Heartworm Testing is performed using a blood sample collected by a trained veterinary professional. Heartworm testing is recommended to be completed once yearly while receiving doses of heartworm preventative year-round.
