Family Programs
Our family programs are designed for individuals of all ages to immerse themselves in the wonders of nature. Our Saturday sessions feature engaging activities such as tadpole catching, campfire building, and flower planting, providing a joyful and educational experience for everyone.
Pond Dipping July 2nd 10am – 12pm (FULL!), August 2nd 10am-12pm (FULL!)
Join in an outdoor adventure for the whole family! Discover life under the water as we use nets to look for small fish, tadpoles, freshwater shrimp, and dragonfly nymphs. Please dress for the possibility of getting muddy!

– Common aquatic species and their life cycles
– Connections between aquatic life and water quality
– Safety while pond dipping
Fees Include:
– A unique experience allowing all ages to explore life under the water.
– An opportunity to learn about water quality and aquatic ecosystems
– Use of pond dipping equipment including nets and buckets
Location: Please check in with the Gift Shop and then meet in the Arches.
Fee: $30 per family, $20 per family for Garden members.
Family Program: S.T.E.M. Builders August 16th 2-4 pm (FULL!)
This Saturday, the Cape Fear Botanical Garden Children’s Pavilion will transform into a maker space where builders of all ages can let their imaginations run wild.
Building Stations Include:
Cardboard Creations– use cut-safe, child-friendly tools to sculpt cardboard and create everything from forts to wearable costumes
Building Block Explosion – Build bridges, castles, pirate ships and more with gears, straws, blocks, wheels, and connectors.
Brick Lab– Use classic “Lego” style bricks to create a mini-world.
Marble Run – Create a marble run with a whizzing ramps and epic chain reactions.
Clay Creatures – Build a monster, a new friend, or crazy-mixed up creature with air-dry clay
Fees Include:
– 2 Hours of Free Building Time
– Admission to the Garden for up to 5 family members
– An air-dry clay creation for each child to take home
