The BMC Pathways program is a two-semester initiative focused on enhancing math skills and promoting mental wellness among at-promise youth and young adults aged 14 to 24. Each semester consists of a 10-week session—one in the fall and one in the spring.
Participants meet weekly with math mentors from the Black Math Collective to strengthen their math skills and build confidence. They also receive group coaching support—private sessions are available upon request starting in December—through Dr. Palmer or Tres Lunas Mental Health Services. Coaching is tailored to each student's needs and can be scheduled as desired. In addition, students benefit from engaging, real-world classes offered by our partners (all of the above starts October 1, 2025).
For our under 18 years old participants, Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to participate, helping create a collaborative and supportive environment. The program prepares students for future career opportunities, with potential incentives awarded upon successful completion of both semesters.
Looking Ahead: Year 2 Begins with an option to participate in BMC's Summer Intensive 2025 a 4 week virtual math program on Tuesday's and Thursday's July 8-31, 2025.
