What's Your Clutter Block?
For years, you’ve been living with an untouched box full of stuff. What’s your reason for keeping it around?
I plan on going through that box, it might have old cards and photos - I’ve always wanted to make a scrapbook.
Wait- I think my high school swimming trophies are in there! I need to bring them to the office.
But that box has been in my family for generations!
Those are holiday gifts I haven’t given out yet. I’ve been collecting for years, everyone knows I’m the best gift giver!
That’s paperwork I want to scan, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Those are my nice candles, I’m saving them for a special occasion.
It’s a box of Beanie Babies I got at the height of the craze, I’m waiting until I can make my money back!
If we come to help you organize your kitchen and suggest some purging, how might you react?
I’ve never used my juicer, but I paid a lot of money for that!
I’m going to use those decade-old beans for craft projects someday.
Hold on, those crusty rusty pans were Grandma’s!
Oh no, those good linens, china, and crystal. I haven’t used them yet, but I’m saving them for a special occasion.
I can’t get rid of all of these small appliances. My kids used them when they were learning how to cook and I want them to still have them when they come back.
I’m known for my beautiful desserts, I can’t get rid of ANY of these baking pans.
I just got really busy at work, can we reschedule our session?
What is on top of your dining room table?
Loads of holiday dishes from when I used to host, but no longer do.
Piles of mail and bills that I need to get to. Someday. UGH.
Multiple sets of inherited china, silverware, mismatched antiques, etc.
Piles of boxes from Black Friday, I got some great deals.
Newly purchased rock climbing equipment- I’ve never tried it but my friends say I might love it!
Dining table? I only eat at the kitchen counter- the table is too fancy.
Nothing. I bought a really expensive table and I hate it so we never use it.

Let’s open your closet door. What’s behind it?
Rows and rows of clothes I haven’t worn in years. Many years.
New but unworn items with tags, full shopping bags, new shoes in the box.
Outfits that I’m saving for that tropical vacation that I might someday go on.
My mom’s old designer clothes from the 60’s. They don’t really fit (me or current fashion!)
A closet full of unworn designer clothes, but I wear sweatpants and leggings.
Boxes of paperwork I keep meaning to shred.
Curated vintage clothes that I paid a fortune for but aren’t actually my style.
The last time you started an organizing project, where did you get stuck?
I started looking through all my old photos and got stalled out on memory lane.
I can’t donate it; I paid so much for that!
I can’t get rid of this - the kids/grandkids might want it someday!
I haven’t! I’m still trying to psych myself up for it!
Trying to organize all of my craft supplies- I keep buying more even though I haven’t started some of them!
All of the stuff I got such good deals on- I’m such a bargain hunter!
Everything I try and declutter is just so nice, I know I should really use it.

Finish this sentence: "I’m saving that for…"
A fancy dinner party I dream of hosting some day but never have. Every time I have friends over, I just put out paper plates. The china seems too nice.
If I ever buy that vacation home I’ll need all those extra margarita glasses.
The kids/grandkids, if they ever need it.
When my body changes and it fits again.
Do you know how much I paid for that?
When I finally have enough time to get around to it!
My high school reunion. I want my childhood friends to see how I’m doing.
How would you describe the clutter in your home?
So many of my things have been passed down to me from family, I can’t imagine parting with them.
My kids’ artwork is everywhere. Even though they have their own homes, I can’t imagine letting it go.
It’s piles of stuff that I’ve been meaning to get to, but just can’t.
I can’t even walk through my front door without tripping over an Amazon box I got on Prime Day.
So much of it is for hobbies I want to do, hopefully when I retire I can get to it!
I have so much nice stuff, I just have never had the right occasion to use it.
I don’t use any of it but I can’t let it go, I paid so much for it. I keep thinking I’ll use it soon.
