    I can. I dream. I uncover.

SCOPE is a 3 day theatre workshop intensive in visual storytelling for young d/Deaf and hard of hearing people. We gather to see and to uncover the infinite possibilities of each individual’s identity through visual vernacular, confidence to be yourself and using imagination to discover d/Deaf and hard of hearing perspectives.

d/Deaf and hard of hearing participants will share their scope of: ‘I can. I dream. I uncover” over the 3 days and at the end of the workshop will tell their story to an audience so people can see the world through their own eyes. SCOPE is led by Deaf actor and leader Tony Moore.

These workshops will teach students performance making skills in a fun and inclusive environment. These workshops are a result of a pilot d/Deaf theatre making workshop for the Keeping in Touch cohort of d/Deaf and hard of hearing students from the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac region. The workshops will uncover and celebrate the skills of young d/Deaf and hard of hearing people in Queensland and also offer them an opportunity to connect and socialise with their peers. Tony Moore is interested in exploring themes around communication, visual vernacular and ways to articulate dreams and ambitions in a way all can understand through performance making.

The workshops will be hosted in Mackay and Crossroad Arts will offer scholarships for young d/Deaf and hard of hearing students for travel and accommodation as this has been an identified barrier to participation in the community and the arts.
