  • Project Description

Please describe your proposed project, answering the following questions:

    • How does this research/project relate to your overall AOC, academic and career trajectory?

    • What have you accomplished so far in this project?

    • How will this project lead to your future work and/or goals?

Include a discussion of your methods, key supporting literature, anticipated outcomes/end results hoped for (conclusions you hope to make). Keep in mind: you are writing to an educated, but not an expert audience.  Jargon and technical details should be described in ways that an intelligent layperson can understand, but still with enough specificity that someone from your field would find your descriptions adequate.

  • Project Budget

  • Course, ISP, Tutorial Pre-Thesis and/or Thesis Related Costs

SRTG funding is available for all costs associated with independent research projects by students, including travel, food, lodging, equipment, supplies, copying, mileage, etc.  Please provide estimates of your expenses (we are not looking for "ballpark" figures - these should be close to the actual expenses anticipated based on research). The maximum award amount is $2000 total, but proposals can request more.

  • Total:  0/  2000
  •  If you do not require Travel, do NOT put zeros. Leave the boxes blank.  The same goes for Materials, Supplies and Equipment section.  If not requesting funds, leave the boxes blank.

  • Total:  0/
  • Budget Narrative/Justification

ALL grant requests require a budget narrtaive/justification explaining the particular costs.  Applicants are expected to research and justify expected expenses.

If your research or project involves compensation of participants, please review carefully the process described in the Instructions & Guidelines.

  • Total Costs vs. SRTG Requested Budget and Budget Justification

The total project costs may or may not be the same as your SRTG request. Usually, the costs in carrying out a project are higher than what you will REQUEST from the SRTG. Most projects average less than $1,000 in award funding.

Applications that request more than $2,000 are discouraged; however, if the applicant is requesting more than $2,000,  additional justification should be provided for the request beyond simply stating one's need or that one can't practically carry out the grant without funding over $2,000. Students are encouraged to seek other sources of funding to support their work.
