A copy of the bus rider rules and regulations from the Fort Stockton Independent School District has been available to me and my child, and I have read and fully understood them. By acknowledging that I have received the BUS RIDER SAFETY HANDBOOK, that serious or continued violation of these rules and regulations will result in the suspension of bus riding privileges for a selected number of days or permanent suspension as determined by the school principal.

This agreement is effective for the current school year, or the student is no longer an eligible bus student. This form must be completed before the student can ride the bus.

Violations of the BUS RIDER SAFETY HANDBOOK RULES shall be dealt with in the following order:

1st Violation: Principal or Assistant Principal will conference with the student - suspension from the bus may occur with this violation. Parents or guardians will be notified.

2nd Violation: Principal or Assistant Principal will conference with the student and parent or guardian. Suspension from the bus may occur with this violation.

3rd Violation: Principal or Assistant Principal will conference with the student and parent or guardian. The student may be suspended from the bus for an extended amount of days as determined by the campus principal.

Modification or exception to the disciplinary steps will be agreed upon by both the school principal and transportation director.

Our transportation department aims to accommodate all eligible riders, but bus seating availability and driver shortages may result in your child being placed on a waiting list.*

We (students, parents/guardians) understand that students placed in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) at Butz for violations of the Student Code of Conduct, including the use or possession of tobacco products, cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or any associated parts (vapes), are not eligible for school transportation services.*

We (students, parents/guardians) understand that a bus driver may refer a student to the principal’s office to maintain effective discipline on the bus. The principal may employ additional discipline management techniques, including restricting or revoking a student’s bus riding privileges. To ensure safe transportation, the driver must focus on driving and not be distracted by student misbehavior. Therefore, if disciplinary techniques do not improve behavior or specific misconduct requires immediate removal, the principal may restrict or revoke a student’s transportation privileges according to the law.*
