    Automatism
    September 20 – November 15, 2025
    Reception September 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM

One hundred years ago, 1925 saw the development and first exhibition of Surrealism. A key concept in early Surrealism was automatism a method of making art in which the artist suppresses conscious control often allowing chance occurrences to guide the art making process. Most often the artist would begin with automatist processes and then adapt them into a final piece.

Automatism will factor into this exhibition in two ways:
MoCA LI is asking for artists who work with an automatist process to submit works for this exhibition.

*Submission deadline for this exhibition is early to allow time to seek complimentary
work for the final exhibition. Late submissions will not be considered.

    Submission deadline: June 15 (midnight)
