LTV's Southern Pine Beetle Survey
The Southern pine beetle has been wreaking havoc in Suffolk County for nearly a decade now. Not only are our local pine forests, residential properties, and Central Pine Barrens at risk of being devastated by this invasive species, but it also creates safety hazards and wildfire risks, creates issues for both homeowners and wildlife, and mars our otherwise beautiful landscapes. What can be done about it? LTV introduces the Pine Protection Project to foster discussion that leads to action and solutions. This is intended as research to inform our panel discussion event on June 11, 2025. Please take this anonymous survey by June 5 to help us understand the scope of the problem.
