Job Summary:
Safe Route Transportation services is seeking reliable and professional drivers to provide safe transportation for before and after school services.
Job Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pass a comprehensive background check (Including: driving history, State/Federal criminal history, sex offender registry, Child Protection Index)
- Show proof of a valid Indiana driver's license.
- Must consent to random drug testing.
- Have at least 2 years of experience working with children; previous employment in a child care center or school is highly desirable.
- Be willing to acquire or show proof of current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport children and clients to and from school, wellness programs, and other designated locations.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers, including enforcing seat belt use, proper boarding/exiting procedures, and executing safe driving practices.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and clients regarding pick-up and drop-off times.
- Assist passengers as needed, particularly those with special needs, while maintaining a positive and welcoming demeanor.
- Report any incidents, delays, or vehicle issues to management promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
- Maintain the van in clean and safe operating condition.
- Adhere to established procedures related to the release of special education students to teachers and parents.
- Be able to determine appropriate action in potential or real medical emergency situations according to established guidelines; administer first aid as needed; conduct routine emergency evacuation drills as assigned.
- Attend safety meetings and programs as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Pay:
Base rate: $15.00/hour
Work Hours: Approimately 6:15am-8:15am and 2:00pm-4:00pm (split shift) ; opportunity for additional routes as accepted
Days: Monday-Friday
Start Date: As soon as possible
