  • Policies

  • Teacher's Responsibility

  • My goal is to help every student (whether child, teen, or adult) develop a genuine love for music by creating an encouraging and enjoyable learning environment.

Lessons are personalized to each student’s unique learning style, interests, and goals. I incorporate games, creative activities, and favorite songs to keep learning fun and meaningful.

  • Piano Lesson Content:

  • Weekly 30-minute lessons are designed to build a strong musical foundation while keeping students engaged and inspired. Lessons may include a mix of creative activities such as ear training, music theory, improvisation, composition, lead sheet playing, sight-reading, and an introduction to a wide variety of music styles and literature.

Each lesson is thoughtfully tailored to the student’s age, goals, and interests- whether they love pop songs, classical pieces, video game music, or anything in between.

Students are responsible for purchasing their own piano books and must bring them to each lesson.

  • Practice and Commitment:

  • Consistent at-home practice is essential for progress and long-term musical growth. While each student learns at their own pace, I aim to provide a customized learning experience that fits their individual needs, goals, and lifestyle.

Practice expectations will be discussed during the first few lessons and are adjusted based on age, level, and schedule. Students are expected to come prepared each week, having spent time reviewing and practicing their assigned material.

To help guide their progress, I provide lesson sheets that must be brought to every lesson.

As a teacher dedicated to working with motivated students, I reserve the right to discontinue lessons if there is a consistent lack of commitment to practice.

  • Tuition & Billing:

  • Tuition covers 40 private lessons per year, divided into three terms:

    • Fall Term (Aug–Dec): 16 lessons
    • Spring Term (Jan–May): 16 lessons
    • Summer Term (June–July): 8 lessons

An additional makeup week is scheduled in May to be used only if the teacher needs to cancel a lesson. No refunds or other makeups will be offered for student absences.

Tuition is not charged per lesson, but reflects the full value of enrollment, which includes:

    • Weekly 30-minute private lessons personalized to each student’s learning style and goals
    • Teacher planning time and professional development
    • Stickers, rewards, and occasional gifts
    • One spring recital (includes preparation, printed programs, and light refreshments)
    • Studio expenses such as copying, piano tuning, digital tools, and maintenance
    • One designated makeup week in May (used only if the teacher must cancel a lesson)

    Payment Options:

    1. Monthly Payments: $115/month (billed August–July) Tuition is divided evenly across the year, so your monthly rate stays the same regardless of how many lessons fall in a given month. Invoices are emailed on the 25th and due by the 1st of the following month.
    2. Full-Term Payments: Pay the entire term up front by the first lesson
      • Fall Term: $575
      • Spring Term: $575
      • Summer Term: $230

Registration Fee: A one-time $25 registration fee is required for new students to reserve a lesson time and is due upon signing up.

    Accepted Payment Methods:
Cash, check (payable to Cheyenne Olson), or online via Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal.

  • Missed Lessons, Make-Ups, and Refunds:

    • If a student arrives late to their 30-minute lesson, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time and full payment is required.
    • Missed lessons are non-refundable, and makeup lessons are not offered for student absences.
    • In the case of illness, an online lesson may be offered during the student’s regular lesson time. Please provide at least 2 hours’ notice so I can prepare for the format. Without sufficient notice, an online option may not be available.
    • If I need to cancel a lesson for any reason, a makeup will be offered during the designated makeup week in May.
    • In the event of bad weather, lessons will be moved online during the usual lesson time. I follow Davis County School District closures and will contact you the morning of your lesson if a switch to online is necessary.
    • If you choose to discontinue lessons, all tuition payments are non-refundable, whether paid monthly or by term.
    • It is the responsibility of the parent or student to notify me as soon as possible if a lesson cannot be attended.
  • Media Release:

  • Photos and videos taken during lessons, studio events, or performances may be shared on Cheyenne’s Piano Studio social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) or used for promotional materials.

If you prefer that your child not be included in any photos or videos, please let me know in writing (email is fine) to opt out. I’m always happy to respect your family’s preferences.

  • I have read, understood, and agree to the piano lesson policies outlined above. I understand that tuition is due by the 1st of each month and that timely payment reserves my child’s lesson spot. If payments are missed for three consecutive weeks without communication, I understand that my child’s lesson spot may be offered to a student on the studio waitlist.
