• Enrollment Lottery Explained
    • Lottery Enrollment Period
      December 1, 2025 - February 13, 2026

Step 1: Apply During the Lottery Window

      December 1 – February 13, 2026

      • Families submit an enrollment application during the statewide charter school lottery period.
      • All applications submitted by February 13 are entered into the lottery.
      • Applying during this window ensures your child is considered for available seats before open enrollment begins.

      Step 2: Lottery & Notification

      Lottery Held February 20, 2026

      • If the number of applicants exceeds available seats in a grade level, ASTEC conducts a randomized lottery.
      • Applications are randomly drawn.
      • If a grade level fills, additional applicants are placed on a waitlist.
      • Families are notified of their lottery status after the drawing.

Because of ASTEC’s expanding campus and new school facilities, we anticipate being able to accommodate nearly all applicants!

      Step 3: Secure Your Seat

Families who have been offered a seat will be contacted directly and asked to complete the enrollment process.

      To finalize enrollment, families must:

      • Complete the required online enrollment forms
      • Submit required documentation
      • Pay activity and supply fees
      • Enrollment is complete once all steps are finished.

A scholar is not considered fully enrolled and may not attend classes until all required fees are paid (or waived) and all required documentation is submitted.

ASTEC places scholars in the grade level certified by official transcripts or academic records from an accredited middle school, junior high school, or high school. Scholars enrolling from non-accredited schools or homeschool programs must complete qualifying placement assessments.

    • Open Enrollment Period
    • Open Enrollment Period
Begins February 21, 2026 (as seats are available)

If your family missed the enrollment lottery, Open Enrollment offers another opportunity to enroll.

Step 1: Apply During Open Enrollment
      Beginning February 21, 2026

      • Once the lottery period has concluded, any remaining available seats move into open enrollment.
      • Families may submit an enrollment application at any time during open enrollment.
      • Applications are reviewed in the order they are received, based on seat availability by grade level.
      • Applying during open enrollment does not guarantee a seat, but applications are considered as openings occur.
      • The link to the Open Enrollment form will be supplied no later than February 21.

Step 2: Seat Offers & Waitlist Movement
      Ongoing, As Seats Become Available

      • As seats become available, families are contacted on a first-come, first-served basis.
      • If a grade level is full, applicants are placed on a waitlist.
      • Waitlist movement is a normal part of the enrollment process, as families’ plans change throughout the year.
      • Families are notified as soon as a seat becomes available.

      Step 3: Secure Your Seat

Families who are offered a seat during open enrollment will be contacted directly and asked to complete the enrollment process.

      To finalize enrollment, families must:

      • Complete the required online enrollment forms
      • Submit required documentation
      • Pay activity and supply fees

Enrollment is complete once all steps are finished.
