Homeschool Music Program Policy
The Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) exists to support public, private, and homeschool music educators across the Commonwealth and, by extension, to provide performance, assessment, and honor ensemble opportunities for students enrolled in those programs.
Homeschool music programs seeking eligibility for their students shall submit the required VMEA Homeschool Music Program Registration Form for review and approval. Submission of this application enables VMEA to determine whether the program meets the criteria necessary for student participation in VMEA-sponsored events.
Participation and Approval
Homeschool music students enrolled in an approved homeschool music program shall be eligible to participate in VMEA-sponsored events, including those organized by VBODA, VCDA, VEMEA, and VGDA, contingent upon the submission and approval of the VMEA Homeschool Music Program Registration Form.
The VMEA Homeschool Committee, in collaboration with the Interest Section Presidents, shall review all applications and submit recommendations regarding program approval and eligibility to the VMEA Presidents Committee. Final determinations shall be communicated to applicants by the VMEA Executive Director.
Homeschool music programs shall submit the VMEA Homeschool Music Program Registration Form, available on the VMEA website, no later than August 15 of each year.
Homeschool directors and students shall refer to the VMEA Handbook and the applicable Interest Section Handbook for all procedures, requirements, and expectations related to participation in VMEA-sponsored activities.
Compliance and Enforcement
Participation in VMEA-sponsored events is contingent upon full compliance with this policy and all applicable provisions outlined in the VMEA Handbook and relevant Interest Section Handbooks. The VMEA Presidents Committee reserves the right to revoke or suspend program approval or student eligibility in cases of non compliance, misrepresentation, or failure to adhere to established procedures and expectations.
