Missions of Mercy and Grace Inc.

Board Directors at Missions of Mercy and Grace Inc. serve as committed stewards of our mission to uplift and empower vulnerable individuals and communities. To ensure effective governance and impact, all board members must meet the following requirements:

1.  Minimum Requirements

Be at least 21 years old
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission, values, and programs of Missions of Mercy and Grace
Possess good moral character, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Not be currently employed by the organization or have any unmanageable conflicts of interest
Be willing to undergo a background check if requested

2.  Time & Service Commitment

Serve a term of one year, with eligibility for reappointment
Attend at least 75% of scheduled board meetings annually (typically quarterly or bi-monthly)
Serve on at least one committee or task force, actively contributing to its work
Participate in strategic planning, program oversight, and organizational development

3.  Skills & Qualifications (at least one strongly encouraged)

Experience in nonprofit leadership, finance, law, community outreach, social work, public relations, or related areas
Lived experience relevant to the communities we serve (e.g., reentry, homelessness, recovery, foster care) is valued and welcomed
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to advocate on behalf of the organization and represent us publicly when needed

4.  Ethical & Legal Responsibilities

Act in the best interests of the organization at all times
Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential issues proactively
Abide by the organization’s bylaws, governance policies, and confidentiality agreements
Participate in board training, evaluations, and annual reviews

5.  General Expectations

Be an ambassador for Missions of Mercy and Grace in the community
Support and help guide strategic decision-making, policy review, and financial oversight
Collaborate respectfully with fellow board members, staff, and volunteers
