• OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
    Catechist Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in serving as a Catechist for our Sacramental Faith Formation programs here at Our Lady of Guadalupe! Teaching others about the faith is a great and much needed gift!

We are looking for catechists to teach children and teens in our programs, as well as to guide their parents in fulfilling their role as the primary formators of their children. We are also looking for catechists to help out with our adult sacramental faith formation programs! Please fill out the form below to let us know which groups you are most interested in journeying with!

Filling out this form is the first step to becoming a catechist here at Our Lady of Guadalupe! The next step will be a meeting to chat more about our programs, and about why you are drawn to being a catechist! Over the summer, we will host a catechist training with information on volunteer onboarding, formation, and practical tips and models for classroom management, teaching, and facilitating discussion.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kimberly Hebert at khebert@olglahabra.org.

  • TYPES OF CATECHISTS

    • Children's catechists - Children's catechists generally prepare kids anywhere from ages 6-13 for first Reconciliation and first Holy Communion using the pathways program. Catechists are assigned to a teach a particular age group.

    • Parent Session Leaders - Leaders for the parent sessions provide guidance and facilitate discussions between parents whose children are preparing for first Reconciliation and first Holy Communion. There are designated leaders to present and teach the parents, and there are designated small group leaders that sit at tables with the parents and facilitate discussion.

High School Faith Formation - Pathways program

    • High school catechists prepare teens for the sacrament of Confirmation using the Pathways programs. Some sessions will be just the teens, and some sessions will include teens and parents.

    Adult Faith Formation

    •  Catechists for the Adult Faith Formation program help prepare adults to receive the Sacraments of Initiation. Some adults in the program are seeking all three sacraments of initiation, while others are baptized Catholics, seeking to receive remaining Sacraments of Initiation.
