SWIST 2026-2027

The Office to Advance Women Apprentices NL (OAWA NL) is offering two (2) Supporting Women in Skilled Trades Scholarships for the 2026/27 school year, each valued at $3000 to assist in removing financial barriers to pursuing a skilled trade program.

Eligibility Criteria:

You must identify as a woman or gender diverse individual
You must pursuing a pre-apprenticeship program in Newfounaldn and Labrador in which women/gender diverse individuals are underrepresented
You must demonstrate a strong commitment to your chosen field
You must not have received this scholarship in previous years
You must be registered with the Office to Advance Women Apprentices
Successful applicants will be required to submit proof of enrolment in their trade program prior to funds being disbursed

Supporting Women in Skilled Trades Application Checklist:

Completed scholarship application form
Proof of application to, or enrolment in, a Pre-Employment or Skilled Occupation Program (can be uploaded within the application form or submitted as a separate document)
Personal Statement (can be completed within the application or submitted as a separate document)
Letter of Recommendation (can be uploaded within the applicationform or submitted as a separate document)

Please ensure that you have completed and submitted all required documentation. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that any documents submitted separately from this application have been received by OAWA NL on or before the application deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
