HOW EMERGENCY HOUSING ON-DEMAND WORKSEmergency housing on-demand allows you and/or your family to be housed rent free for up to (6) -(18) months if your circumstance is a direct result of Domestic Violence protected under HUD 5380. Program activities are required for eligible participants to engage to remain rent free in efforts to help you prepare to obtain and sustain affordable housing. Emergency Housing On-Demand was founded on an illegal eviction of a VAWA tenant. The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) for men and women with or without children. Your VAWA rights are explained under HUD 5380 and Title 42-11302 (b). To receive emergency housing on-demand you must be able to certify your domestic violence case followed by supporting documents such as a police report, protection order, etc.

Upon submission, you will receive an access code and address to the nearest unit available with access to basic utilities such as water, electricity, heating and cooling. In some cases, the unit may be furnished. However, a housing specialist will verify all of the information you provided before rendering you a voucher and leasing agreement that outlines a schedule of program activities funded by SHAP and is required for you to participate in to help you heal, save money, and obtain employment for long-term affordable housing. You acknowledge that all emergency housing on-demand properties are secured with externally video cameras and may result in frequent check-ins by staff to ensure emergency housing on-demand is not being abused. You also acknowledge that the aggressor may not have access to this property. Only minor children may accompany you if you are the legal parent or guardian. If the aggressor locates you, VAWA rights allows you and staff to report the aggressor/stalker to the police and allows you to be transferred another unit.* This field is required.
