  • No More Smoke. No More Settling. Let’s Build the Georgetown We Deserve.

  • Dear Neighbor,

Georgetown is at a crossroads. With the closing of the International Paper and Liberty Steel plants, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to decide what comes next for our town — and for our waterfront.

As residents of this community, we believe that future should reflect the values we share: clean air and water, good-paying jobs, strong local businesses, and a vibrant, welcoming town for the people who call Georgetown home.

That’s why we support Citizens for Georgetown, a local group working to ensure that redevelopment of these sites puts our community first.

We’re especially concerned about the proposed biomass incineration facility at the former IP site — a project that would bring back smokestacks, pollution, and outdated industry instead of the opportunity Georgetown deserves.

There is already a plan underway to clean up the environmental damage left behind at the IP site — a major step toward restoring the property and making it safe and suitable for new, community-focused development.

We’re asking you to stand with us.

By signing your name below, you’re saying clearly and proudly: Georgetown can do better. We want progress that lifts up families, small businesses, and future generations — not more smoke in the air and fewer jobs on the ground.

If you agree, please sign this letter and join the growing number of residents speaking out for a cleaner, stronger, more hopeful future for our town.

    Sincerely,
