      600 Clock hour certificate program: 164 in-class hours, 284 hybrid hours, 152 clinical hours

      First 15 Weeks: Wednesdays & Fridays 1-5 p.m.

      Weeks 16-25: 2 days clinical; Fridays 1-5 p.m.

      Certification: National Entry Level Dental Assistant (NELDA) - Dental Assisting National Board

       

      Program Overview:

      The Adult Dental Assisting Program is designed to prepare students for employment as entry-level dental assistants in a variety of dental settings. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, and clinical practice to ensure students develop the knowledge, technical skills, and professionalism required to thrive in a dental office environment. The revised program structure allows individuals to balance their education with personal and professional responsibilities-while also providing dental offices with a convenient option to upskill new hires.

      • The Dental Assisting Profession
      • Sciences in Dentistry
      • Infection Prevention
      • Occupational Health and Safety
      • Radiographic Imaging
      • Oral Health and Prevention of Dental Disease
      • Foundation of Clinical Dentistry
      • Patient Information and Assessment
      • Dental Materials
      • Assisting in Comprehensive Dental Care

      *These classes will have a laboratory and/or clinic time along with lecture.

      Important note: Franklin Technology Center programs are based on clock hours and may not be transferable to other education facilities. Clinical Rotations and Externship is included in the program’s 600 clock hours. Franklin Technology Center requires students to maintain a 90% attendance and an overall 70% grade course average during the program. Students are not certified/registered upon graduation from the program. Students must meet national testing organization entrance requirements for the DANB NELDA certification. Admittance into the program requires a clear background check & drug screening through ATLAS/Occumed.

    • Step 1

      Submit Application with fee to Franklin Technology Center

      In order to be considered for admission into Dental Assisting program, the first step in the process is to receive an application packet and complete the following:

      • Read the program sheet
      • Review program cost sheet and keep a copy (Important: The school reserves the right to adjust program tuition and fees prior to the start of the program.)
      • Complete & sign application form
      • Return signed application form, consent forms if applicable, and non-refundable $25 application fee to the address below or submitted online at franklintechnologycenter.com. 

      Step 2

      Transcripts

      Once you have a completed Step 1, you will be asked to provide the following

      • Official high school or GED/HiSET transcripts. It is your responsibility to request your transcript from the High School you graduated from or the state you received your GED/HiSET from. Please have requested copies mailed to:

      Step 3

      Contact Financial Aid

      • All applicants must make initial contact with the financial aid coordinator, even if you are not planning to use financial aid monies to pay for the program. You can contact the financial aid coordinator at 417-680-0004, ext. 2062.
      • The FAFSA must be completed online at https://studentaid.gov. You may call the financial aid coordinator at 417-680-0004, ext. 2062 if you need assistance completing the FAFSA.
      • If you have a previous loan that was in default status, but have completed the requirements to take care of the default status, you MUST provide the financial aid coordinator with a letter from the State Department of Education confirming that your loan is no longer in default status. Failure to do so will result in your name being removed from the applicant pool.

      Step 4

      Health and Policy Forms

      Applicants must be 18 years of age upon entering the program. Immunization records including childhood, Hep B series or Titer and a current TB test is required of all students as recommended by the CDC for “Practice Standards for all Healthcare Professionals”. The beginning of the school year, a drug screening and background check will be required. If the student fails drug screening or background check, it will be an automatic dismissal from the program.  

      Step 5

      Orientation

      All students will be required to attend orientation prior to the first day of class. Students will be contacted regarding program-specific orientation date, time and location after acceptance.

    • Explanation of Tuition and Fees 
    • Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy

      Franklin Technology Center adheres to the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989. Students accepted into the program are required to follow the drug screening policy as stated below.

       

      • Use or suspected use of intoxicants or controlled substance and/or unlawful possession of any illegal or controlled substance during school or clinical hours or during school related/sponsored activity shall subject a student to dismissal from the program. The student must submit to a drug or alcohol screen according to the faculty instruction and within the time frame directed by the same. If the student refuses to complete a drug or alcohol screen, the student will be assumed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Failure to comply with required testing will result in dismissal from the program. Not providing a specimen within a timely manner, or submitting an altered, diluted or substituted specimen will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the program.
         
      • Franklin Technology Center reserves the right to perform unscheduled or random drug screens in order to comply with clinical site requirements and assure that students are not under the influence of intoxicants or illegal or controlled substances.
         

      All offers of acceptance into Franklin Technology Center programs are made as conditional offers. The conditions will include a satisfactory background check and negative drug screen. Acceptance into the program will be denied if there is refusal to read and sign the drug screen consent form, if an applicant is found in possession of specimen altering devices, if applicant is unable to provide a specimen in a timely manner, or for submitting an altered/substituted specimen.

      To ensure compliance with the Drug Fee Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989, students will be tested as a condition of admission, upon reasonable suspicion, and post-accident or post-injury. (See Franklin Technology Center Student Handbook for additional information.)

      Students must abide by the terms of the above policy and must report any conviction under a criminal drug statute for violations occurring on or off College premises. A conviction must be reported within five (5) days after the conviction. Students convicted of involvement in a criminal drug offense will be dismissed from the program.

      Non-Refundable Application Fee of $25.00 is required prior to acceptance into program.

      Tuition Withdrawal Policy

      A Title IV refund is completed on all financial aid recipients.  The Title IV refund is calculated per payment period.  If a student completes 60% of a payment period, a Title IV refund is not required.

      NOTE:  Any Title IV financial aid returned by FTC to the Direct Loan(s) and/or the US Dept. of Ed for Pell Grants will be charged back to the students account and will be his/her responsibility.

      Institutional charges are due as follows:  Days=class days

       

      ·         Before class begins or class is cancelled- 100% of tuition is refunded*

      ·         Student withdraws on the 1st day of class- Total amount, less $100 refunded*

      ·         Student withdraws from the 2nd day through the 4th day of the pay period- 98% of tuition refunded*

      ·         Student withdraws from the 5th day through the 9th day of the pay period- 95% of tuition refunded*

      ·         Student withdraws from the 10th day through the 15th day of the pay period- 90% of tuition refunded*

      ·         Student withdraws from the 16th day through the 21st day of the pay period- 80% of tuition refunded*

      ·         Student withdraws from the 22nd day through the 30th day of the pay period- 60% of tuition refunded*

      ·         Student withdraws after 30th day of pay period- 0% of tuition refunded*

      All costs including tuition, books, and supplies are considered institutional costs and are figured in the refund calculation.  *Fees, books, and supply fees will be assessed on usage.

      All Credit balances must be eliminated before a Title IV refund calculation can be performed.

      All Students completing a withdrawal form and received a Direct loan are required to complete an exit counseling session online at www.nslds.ed.gov

      School will determine the student's withdrawal date as the last date the student ceased attendance.

      All Title IV funds WILL BE RETURNED no later than 45 days after it determines the student withdrew.

      NOTE:  If a student withdraws (a leave of absence is not included) from a program and wishes to re-enter at a later time, he/she will be responsible for any previous tuition, books, and fees owed and any additional and/or increased tuition, books, and fees of the rear re-entered.  If tuition has increased the student will be responsible for the additional costs.  The re-entry request must be approved by the Program Coordinator and Director of FTC before a student can begin in the program.  If a student withdraws twice from any program at FTC he/she will not be allowed to re-enter ANY FTC program.

      Several services are targeted to specific populations, such as youth, those on layoff from a job, veterans, older workers, welfare recipients, ex-offenders, and many others.

    • FAFSA

      1.Complete your FAFSA online at studentaid.gov. You must list Franklin Technology Center's Title IV school code (013568) on the form. Include spouse and parent tax information as determined by the FAFSA.

      2. Approximately one week after completing your FAFSA, you will receive a FAFSA Submission Summary. If you do not, check the status of your report online at studentaid.gov. The SAR summarized the information you provided on your FAFSA. Franklin Technology Center will receive a copy electronically in 3-5 business days.

      3. Within three to four weeks after you receive your SAR, the Financial Aid Office will send you a Financial Aid Offer and request for additional documents. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have not received the Financial Aid Offer. Submit requested documents as soon as possible or your aid may be delayed. 

      4. Review your Financial Aid Offer. Accept or Decline each type of aid offered. Sign, date, and return the offer to the Financial Aid Office. You will have to complete Entrance Loan Counseling, Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement, and electronically sign your Master Promissory Note before loan proceeds will be released. Go to studentaid.gov to complete the online sessions and signatures.

      5. You will be required to set up a monthly payment plan with Franklin Technology Center's Staff Accountant if your financial aid will not cover the total cost of the program. Payments will be made on a monthly basis, due the 30th of each month. Balance must be paid in full in the month prior to the end date of the program.

      6. If your financial aid exceeds the amount you owe for the cost of the program, a refund check will be issued to you.

      If a funding agency will be providing any monies toward your program costs, we must have the following documentation on file before you can attend any program classes.  It is the student’s responsibility to work closely with their counselor to insure proper documentation has been received by the FTC bookkeeping or financial aid office.

  • CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: 

    All applicants applying for FTC programs will be required to undergo a criminal background check through ATLAS. Failure to accurately list information may result in denial of entrance into the program. Students that are accepted through false or incorrect information for the background check will be terminated from the educational program. Students with an insufficient or questionable background check or adults attending programs located in a building with minors will be required to have fingerprints taken and sent to the FBI for review. Failure to have a clear background check will result in immediate dismissal from the program.
