    Event Overview:

    Family Day is a joyful event bringing together community agencies, businesses, and resources to celebrate the families of San Antonio. This FREE event is open to all families in San Antonio and Bexar County. Our goal is to connect families with local resources, fun activities, food boxes, backpacks, and school supplies, all in a safe and engaging enviornment. We anticipate hosting approximately 1,500 people. 

     

    Booth Requirements

    All vendors must be present for the entirety of the event. Early departure before 1:00 p.m. may disqualify participation in future events.
    Vendors are responsible for their setup, cleanup, and breakdown.
    No sales will be permitted at the event. It's entirely free for families.
    Due to health regulations, no consumable food items can be distributed at your booth.
    This is a smoke/vape-free event.

  • Each booth must offer an activity promoting one of the following 5 Protective Factors (examples provided below)

    Parental Resilience:

    • Self-Compassion Note: Families write down one great thing about themselves (as a family or individually).
    • Gratitude hands: Agencies can have hand cutouts and fill each finger with something they are grateful for.
    • Know your strengths: cutout of a star or something summer related and within the printout: what is the family's strength or child’s, depending on who participates.

    Social Connections:

    • I-Spy cards on the table
    • Building games
    • Taking Turn type of games (prize wheel, tossing games, etc.)

    Concrete supports:

    • Building healthy habits: Having two baskets (fruits and vegetables and kids have to sort them into the right basket).
    • Exercise activities
    • Giant DIY cubes that have various exercises or questions about health on each of the sides.
    • Giant DIY cubes that have questions about different types of support (food, health, community, who they go to help for).

    Knowledge of parenting & child development:

    • Family Craft
    • Family conversation cards: Kids can pick a card that has a question (family-related) and ask their caregiver or vice versa.
    • Recipe” cards: card activities: A variety of either recipes or activities, families pick a card and can do that activity at home with their child.

    Social-emotional competence of children:

    • Coping skills activities
    • Positive Self-Talk art craft
    • Feelings charades
    • Paper plate Face: Child receives a paper plate glued onto a popsicle stick and draws an emotion (face) that they are feeling or a feeling they know.
  • Logistics:

    • Set-up and unloading are permitted between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., with all booths ready by 9:45 a.m.
    • Booth assignments will be random.
    • Electricity is NOT provided
    • Food or lunch is NOT provided. Vendor staff and volunteers are welcome to bring their own food and snacks.
    • Water Stations will be provided. We encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle.
    • UWSA encourages vendors to bring their own pop-up canopies (with weights). There will not be any shaded areas at the event.
    • UWSA will provide one table and two chairs for each invited booth. UWSA will not provide canopies for booths for this event.
    • Bring needed materials and decorations; let your creativity shine!
    • Please prepare for 1,500 people.

  • Promotion and Contest:

    • Booth partners must ensure their area is clean throughout the event.
    • Participate in our Booth Contest: Categories include Best Decorated Booth and Most Creative Activity. Gift card prize!
