Youth Art Competition 2025
Cruinniú na nÓg and Celtic Con 2025; Art inspired by comics, graphic novels or super heroes.
To mark the occasions of Cruinniú na nÓg and Celtic Con in June 2025, you are invited to create a piece of art inspired by comics, graphic novels or super heroes.

This art competition is for all young people up to 18 (living in Laois).

The sky is the limit and your artwork can be in any visual art medium such as, drawing, painting, lego, sculpture, print, collage, digital photography, mixed media, graffiti, etc.

Age categories are: Under 6 | 6-8 | 9-11 | 12-14 | 15-18

Children of all abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to enter. Please get in touch if you need support with the application process or want to provide us with any additional information or an alternative way to apply.

Prize:

5 winners and 5 runners up will be selected and prints of their artworks will be exhibited at Dunamaise Arts Centre in the R32 Artisan Bakery & Café Showcase Wall throughout June. Prizes will be presented at Celtic Con 2025.

The Competition opens at 1pm on Friday 9th May and closes midnight Tuesday 27th May

The Cruinniú na nÓg Art Competition is supported by Creative Ireland Laois as part of the Creative Ireland Programme and in partnership with Dunamaise Arts Centre and Celtic Con.

NOTE: If you are under 18, it is required that your Parent/Guardian provide consent to enter this Competition. A Parent/Guardian’s contact number will be required.

- Upload your image as a .jpeg or .png file, no larger than 2MB in size
- Before you upload your image, you should rename it with: Your Name_Age_Title of Artwork_Inspiration (if relevant) e.g. Spiderman, Umbrella Academy, etc

REMEMBER:

·         Artworks without your name cannot be adjudicated.

·         The original artwork should be retained and kept in a safe place in case the organisers require to professionally photograph it and / or scan it for print purposes

·         Winners are required to make their original artwork available to the Dunamaise Arts Centre for photographing and / or scanning. If the original artwork entry is not available, it may deem your entry null and void. This will be at the discretion of the competition organisers – Creative Ireland Laois and Dunamaise Arts Centre

· This Competition is free to enter

· This Competition is open to persons aged 0 – 18

· Entry is limited to one image per person

·         The Competition opens at 10am on Saturday 27th April and closes midnight Wednesday 15th May (the 'Competition Period'). No entries submitted before or after the Competition Period will be valid. Dunamaise Arts Centre and Celtic Con have the authority to amend, extend or withdraw this without prior notice at any time during this period

·         To enter the Competition, you must fill in a Competition Form and upload it and your image.

·         If you are under 18, it is required that your Parent/Guardian provide consent to enter this Competition. A Parent/Guardian’s contact number will be required

·         The original artwork should be retained and kept in a safe place in case it is required to be professionally photographed and / or scan it for print purposes by the competition organisers

·         Winners are required to make their original artwork available to the Dunamaise Arts Centre for photographing and / or scanning. If the original artwork entry is not available, it may deem the entry null and void. This will be at the discretion of the competition organisers –Dunamaise Arts Centre and Celtic Con.

·         This art competition will be adjudicated by a panel of professional artists nominated by Dunamaise Arts Centre and Celtic Con

·         Parental consent is required to process the personal data of children/young people under the age of 18 for Dunamaise Arts Centre services. In almost all cases, we do not request data from customers under 18 years old. Data related to the Art Competition is required in order to process submissions. We ask that parents/guardians be vigilant in this regard

·         In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the Competition, the decision of Dunamaise Arts Centre and Celtic Con shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into
