Baxter Academy Summer Programming - Sign Ups

We are excited to run a 5-week summer program for our students and community members running between June 29 - August 7. Each week has a different subject area - staff may participate in all or one (based on fairness and first come/first serve basis). The camp hours for students will be 9:00 am - 2:00pm. All programming will start at Baxter Academy at 185 Lancaster Street in Portland.
About the Programming

Each week of the program will focus on a different theme: marine science, photography, biomedical engineering and applied design, exploring math through art, and chess. These themes are designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking while giving students the opportunity to strengthen academic skills. When we are clear on staff availability, we will finalize the timing of each week.

The curriculum, off-site exploration opportunities, guest speakers, and necessary supplies are currently being developed and negotiated to ensure a rich and engaging experience for participants.

Sam Wasielewski will serve as the Program Director for the full five weeks, overseeing the curriculum development, implementation of the program, coordinating student transporation, and managing the purchasing of snacks and lunches.
Staffing Opportunities:
- Instructional staff will receive a weekly stipend of $1,700 and will lead camp programming focused on student-centered learning. Their hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, including planning, daily prep time, and clean up as necessary.
- Driver(s) will be paid $30/hour, as needed, based on camper transportation needs.
