• Snakes 🐍

Focussed sessions for runners who can run 5k in under 19:30 (men) and 22:00 (women)
  • We’re exploring ways the Club can better support our fastest runners, and we’d love your input. In particular, we’re considering bringing back focused sessions like the old 'Snakes' training – hard, motivating runs with like-minded teammates. If you are interested, please provide some information about you, which time on Tuesdays works for you, and which team races you'd be interested in running.

For communications, the Committee would like us to trial Spond.
You can join the Club group here: https://spond.com/invite/PKIUG

I will also post the session and other details on the website (under Training > Snakes). All other feedback, feel free to email or WhatsApp me. :)

    First training block

The first training block will start next Tuesday (13th May). It's 9 weeks long with the aim to improve your road 5k/10k time and targeting a time trial (e.g. race or Parkrun) at the beginning of July.

  • About yourself

  • Training sessions

The most popular day (and the one I can realistically coach) is Tuesday evening. The location of the sessions will likely vary, but will typically be on the Common, around the Sports Centre or in Lordswood. I anticipate sessions to be 1h or longer.
  • Are you planning to attend the sessions in person?*
  • Which start times would work for you?
  • Are you happy to receive direct coaching feedback from me (e.g. technique points)?*
  • Team races

  • Fancy trying to win some team prizes? I have 3 races on my mind, all of which are awesome team events. I will structure our training sessions towards these races. Please let me know whether you would be happy to be on the team.

    (1) Lordshill 10k on Sun 6th July (9 am)

Two teams each (4 per team) for men and women (+ reserve).

    ~£16 runner.

    (2) Test Way relay on Sun 10th Aug

One team each (7 per team) for men and women. Crosscountry. 7-leg relay, covering a distance of 7.5-11.9km, depending on the specific leg. We would organise some recce runs for specific legs.

    £175 per team (i.e. £25 per runner)

    (3) SEAA road relays on Sat 20th Sep

    Women’s team (4x 6km), men’s (6x 6km) and Masters (3 women or 4 men per team for 40+, 50+ and 60+).

    ~£14 per runner.

Please let me know whether you would like to be on the team below.

Note: We will put together the most competitive teams, but we'll try to build team spirit and balance participation. :)

  • Lordshill 10k (Sun 6th July at 9 am)*
