IPA IC Training Program Application Form

This application is made up of five sections. Section 1 is to collect demographic information about each candidate. Section 2 is an extended answer section that will help us to learn more about you. Section 3 enables you to upload a CV or resume to highlight your work history. Section 4 gives you the option to upload a letter of recommendation. Section 5 deals with financial aid. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND SAVING YOUR ANSWERS TO THE EXTENDED ANSWER SECTION IN A WORD DOCUMENT JUST IN CASE THERE IS A TECHNICAL ERROR WITH YOUR SUBMISSION.

In order for your application to be considered completed and to be reviewed by our team, you must:

1) submit your written application
2) pay your $50 USD application fee

You will be contacted within two weeks of your application being completed about whether or not you have been selected for an interview for the program. All application fees are non-refundable and can be paid via credit card upon completion of the application. YOU WILL BE PROMPTED TO SUBMIT PAYMENT AS SOON AS YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION.

Please note that if you submit an application but do not submit an application fee, your application will not be considered for the program.

Intimacy choreography is a freelance position and may be difficult to make a full time career immediately. What other profession(s) do you plan to pursue concurrently, if any?

Being a good intimacy choreographer requires having great interpersonal communication skills. What classes and/or life experiences have helped develop your communication skills?*

Intimacy choreographers regularly deal with potentially triggering material and may encounter actors/crew members who are experiencing a trauma response. Is there trauma in your past that's relevant to your choosing to study to become an intimacy coordinator? Have you done any work to deal with your own trauma that could be triggered by working in a field that deals with sexuality and on occasion sexual trauma/abuse? Please explain.*

If you have experience working in live performance, please tell us more about what job(s) you have done and how you feel they have prepared you to become an intimacy choreographer.*

In order to give us a better picture of who you are, we encourage you to upload a letter of recommendation from someone who can speak to your work and character. Letters of recommendation are not required but they are encouraged. Only Word docs and PDFs will be accepted. Please ask your recommender to limit their letter to two pages. There is a limit of one letter of recommendation per applicant. You should not be related to the recommender.

As with many other programs that prepare a student to change professions, there is a significant financial cost associated with participating in the IC training program. At this time, we offer a limited number of need-based work-study arrangements (we prioritize giving work-study to participants from underrepresented backgrounds) and also offer payment plans, which come with a 5% service fee. Please note that we cannot guarantee that you will be selected for work-study if you indicate an interest in it, but payment plans are available for anyone accepted into the program. As part of the interview process, we have started implementing the use of video recording and note taking software. This allows for more accurate note taking and for the entire admissions committee to review the interviews of candidates rather than solely the interviewer present at the time of the interview. Choosing to opt out of the interview being recorded will not affect your chances of admission.
