Personal Essay

As part of our commitment to supporting the next generation of Black educators, we ask applicants to reflect on their role in shaping a more just and inclusive educational system. This essay allows us to understand your passion, experiences, and vision for equity in education.

Your essay should be 500-750 words and provide a thoughtful, well-structured response to the following prompt:

"Education has the power to transform society, yet historically, it has also been used to uphold systems of oppression that marginalize Black and Brown communities. As a future Black educator, how do you plan to make a meaningful impact in challenging inequities in education, advocating for truth in curriculum, and creating a more just and inclusive learning environment for all students? Share a personal experience or initiative you have led or participated in that demonstrates your commitment to educational equity."

Letter of Reccomendation

Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation:

1. One from a university staff member (professor, advisor, or administrator) using their official .edu email.
2. One from a community member (employer, mentor, religious leader, or volunteer coordinator).

Recommenders must submit letters via JuiceSeLavi.com under the "Recommendations" tab before June 29, 2025.
