Welcome Citizen Scientist!
  • Welcome!

You’re about to join the Perry Lakes Citizen Science movement. Real fieldwork. Real data. Real conservation impact. Before you jump in, we just need a few quick details so we can tailor training, field opportunities and updates to you. Takes less than 5 minutes.
  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • Field work, data analysis or both - the choice is yours.

Please indicate (Yes or No) which of the following areas you are interested in, noting that training, apps and safety equipment will be provided before you commence.

  • 1. WATER LEVEL DATA: Be part of the team that records water levels in both lakes, weather and evaporation data and groundwater. NB. As of February 2026, we are hotly anticipating the activation of lake level telemetry.*
  • 2. WATER QUALITY MONITORING: This team takes monthly water samples using the Hanna HI9829 Multiparameter water test kits, supplied by the Town of Cambridge. Additional water samples may be captured during significant rainfall events (eg first of the season) which will be sent to labs for analysis.*
  • 3. BIRD SURVEYS: Attend per schedule or ad-hoc basis to record observations. There are 4 survey Points (transects), 2 around each lake and each survey takes approximately 20 minutes.*
  • 4. DATA ANALYSIS: Review the data collected, analyse and hypothesise in conjunction with our lead scientists*
  • Do you have any health or mobility considerations we should be aware of when planning field activities?*
