• Tattoo aftercare

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Looking after your tattoo is just as important as the tattooing process, if you would like yours to heal well, please follow these instructions:

       Second Skin

    • You can shower with the second skin on but you cannot submerge it under water. NO SWIMMING, NO BATHS, NO SAUNAS.

    • Aim to keep the second skin on for 3-6 days (the full 6 days if possible). If the skin becomes irritated, the second skin peels back revealing the tattoo remove the second skin and start the next process of the healing
    • Excess ink and plasma forming underneath the second skin is completely normal. If some escapes, try to pat the second skin down after draining the liquid.

      1. To remove second skin, I would recommend removing the second skin in the shower, if possible, as running water will help loosen the adhesive.

      2. Find an edge of the bandage and pull it downwards (Similar to a command strip) and pull it away until you fully remove the second skin

      3. Bin the used second skin and then use a circular motion to gently wash off any remaining ink, blood, and plasma with your hand, some warm water, and a small amount of fragrance-free, antibacterial soap.

      4. Avoid scrubbing the new tattoo, which could damage your skin and slow healing.

      5. Using your clean hands to splash lukewarm water onto the tattoo until your skin is rinsed clean.

      6. If there is any adhesive residue leftover on the skin use baby oil or skin safe adhesive remover is helpful to remove it.

    Afterwards

    • Allow the tattoo to air dry or pat with a clean kitchen towel
    • Apply a thin layer of your aftercare cream to the tattoo. Avoid over moisturizing the tattoo, which could make it more difficult for the tattoo to breathe.
    • After, apply a layer of aftercare moisturiser 2 - 3 times a day for 2 weeks or until the tattoo is no longer peeling, dry, or cracked.

If you have any questions about healing or your second skin, please message me on Instagram or by email.
