  • 2025  Performance Artist application

Thank you for your interest in performing at Sacred Acre! Please read through this application thoroughly before submitting. Submitting incomplete applications (or applications that provide something other than what's being asked) may be interpreted as inattention to detail and could negatively impact your consideration. Once your application is submitted no further changes can be made.

  • Sacred Acre is not currently able to accept applications for aerial artists, although we hope to include aerial performance in the future. If you are an aerialist interested in performing at Sacred Acre, or have further questions about future aerial performance at Sacred Acre, please email sacredacreakperformers@gmail.com.

We are accepting group as well as individual applications this year.
**If members of a group wish to perform individually, than a separate application will be required for each individual performer who wishes to perform outside of their group** (i.e. If 3 people apply as a group and 2 wish to also perform individually outside of the group's performance, those 2 people would need to submit additional application for individual performances)

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, starting 6/1/25, until all spots are filled. There are 10 spots available for this year's cohort.

    Welcome to year FOUR!

As Sacred Acre grows, so does its story. This isn't just a festival, it's music with a mission. Together we all help to bring awareness to industrial trawling in Alaskan waters and the deleterious impact it has on the ocean floor and all the creatures that call the sea their home.

For 2025, we are expanding our applications to include all forms of performance art. This can include (but is not limited to) fire, LED, go go dancing, silk fans or other selective day props, breakdancing, acro yoga, belly dancing as well as roving and staged costumed characters that are on-theme with the festival.

     Costumed Characters:

Sacred Acre has an ever expanding story and this year will be the beginning of that story playing out through emmersive character interactions.

We are looking for antagonist characters who will be "net wraiths": dark creatures who emerge after nightfall to capture sea life in their nets and drag them to the bottom of the ocean, where their kingdom of bones awaits their return.

Additional creative direction and support will be given to applicants accepted to these roles to create a cohesive aesthetic. Characters will have a presence both on side stages and in the audience on Saturday only. Due to the small group size, applicants who intend to perform in addition to playing a character are preferred.
**Special consideration and compensation will be given to individual and group character applicants. If accepted, performers will have additional pre-event requirements outside of the standard performance group requirements.

Please email to sacredacreakperformers@gmail.com with any questions regarding character applications.

At the core of the Sacred Acre Performance Team is a culture of professionalism, responsibility, accountability, and respect.

Our ideal performer is more than just technically skilled, they are also ambassadors of the Sacred Acre Performance Team. This means prioritizing one's role as a performer while at the festival; our performers are essential to creating the Sacred Acre experience for everyone else in attendance, and as such we consider them to be examples and stewards of the culture we wish to create. We hope to see candidates who understand the importance of that role and commitment. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who embody this ethos and display a level of maturity that honors the culture we are all co-creating.

  • If performing with props, please list all props that you intend to perform with below.

Please be specific in designating each type of prop (i.e. double LED dragon staff, fire poi, knife juggling, etc.) AND rate your proficiency with each prop:

    - Very Proficient (you've developed an individual style with this prop and can teach this in a workshop or 1-on-1 setting)

    - Proficient (you can flow with clean transitions and without dropping your prop for a 3-5 minute duration)

  • Please provide up to 5 professional photos (10MB or less per photo) of yourself or your group with at least one photo in portrait mode (vertical orientation).

Photos should be representive of your style or stage presence (performance photos are great so long as your face is clearly visible in at least one of the photos). If you are selected to perform, photos may be used for marketing purposes.

At least one close-up shot of your face is preferred, but not required.

**If you are applying as a character, please provide at least one photo of you (or your group) in costume or a design sketch if your costume is not yet completed**

  • Due to the increased number of applicants and video file sizes, we are asking that you upload your videos to YouTube and copy/paste the link below to submit.

Please provide a brief (30-60 second) video (100MB or less) of you flowing/performing. This is an opportunity to show off your unique costume style or flow/dance technique, and will help give us a better idea of what you could bring to the Sacred Acre stage.

You do not need to be in full costume or submit video from a performance (although this is strongly recommended).

For groups: Please submit one video for each choreographed act that you are intending to perform. Please title the file name(s) to match the title(s) listed on this application. Multiple acts within a group can be submitted as a montage within one YouTube video or multiple videos.

  • Thank you for your interest in Sacred Acre. We are excited to co-create and elevate festival performance on Alaska's biggest stage, and are grateful for the energy and passion that you bring to these spaces. We will begin reaching out starting 6/1/25.
