Scholarship Qualifications & About: Nancy Bixler was a loving mom, grandmother, and friend to all. She served Frisco ISD schools for over five years as a bus driver for children with special needs. When she wasn’t serving others, drinking Pepsi, or playing with her tuxedo cat, Mandy, Nancy was spending time with her three granddaughters: Danielle, Dellaney, and Madison. Affectionately called Meemaw by her granddaughters, she served endless amounts of ice cream, kept the candy jar on the bottom shelf, and cleared room in her closet for sleepovers and movie nights.

Introducing Danielle to the Miss America Opportunity at a young age, Nancy would invite Danielle over to watch the Miss America Competition each year, creating a lasting bond between the two. Nancy was always captivated with the incredible performances, talents, and women who graced the iconic stage. Little did she know, year after a year, seeds were being planted, and dreams were being forged. Nancy passed away in 2019 after losing her battle to cancer and is dearly missed by her family. Danielle wishes that Nancy, her Meemaw, could have witnessed her compete on the Miss Texas stage, but she is excited to pursue this dream knowing that her Meemaw is cheering her on in Heaven.
