Scholarship Qualifications & About:
This scholarship is being offered in honor of Katie Jo Vaughn. Katie Jo was a true queen who loved life and lived life to the fullest. Katie maintained a 4.0 GPA and was a 3 sport athlete. She was a fierce competitor on the volleyball and basketball courts as well as on the track as a hurdler. She was a cheerleader, a class officer, National Honor Society member, and student council member. She made time for community service programs that were dear to her heart such as gun safety, homeless shelters, battered women shelters, and Church Under The Bridge. She loved to give and her laugh, smile, and energy was unmatched and her love was unparalled, and it was all contagious. And she would gladly pray every chance she got. You could also find her on the 4 wheeler, fishing, hunting, in the hammock, or caring for her chickens and pigs. And even cleaning the house and washing her moms uniforms for work. Sushi and crawfish were her favorite! And of course she made time for selfies! She loved life, her friends, her family, kids, and God. It was a joy and honor to her to be a role model to her peers and younger generations. She had received over $67,000 in scholarships and had been accepted and planned to attend Ouachita Baptist University. Katie Jo was a loving sister and daughter, and loyal friend. She was always thinking of her mother and loving her brother. In addition to all of these accomplishments and qualities, Katie Jo was also a pageant queen and competitor. She would light up the stage with her personality, beauty, and grace, and her blazing clogging routines. Tragically, Katie was taken from this earth on November 8, 2020, in an automobile accident. At only 17 years old, Katie Jo touched lives all over and made an impact on countless people. She was just a small town girl, with big dreams!
This scholarship is set to honor her life and to encourage others to Live Like Katie Jo Vaughn (#LLKJV), live life to the fullest because life can be so short. Remember the little things in life and always be giving and kind, and share a smile!
