The Fab Learning Academy (FLA) is a distributed educational program that globally certifies educators using digital fabrication with students in both formal and informal settings. This is a hybrid program, with virtual classes and in-person lab sessions. The content is taught in English.

SUMMARY

The Fab Learning Academy Curriculum is divided into four modules, each lasting between four and six weeks. Participants will be expected to spend between 4 and 8 hours each week to successfully complete each module:

90 minutes a week for Global Masterclass (virtual, Mondays at 8:00am EST time: New York)
1-3 hours per week for Local Node learning (in person, time decided by local node)
1-3 hours per week for project work in the Local Node Lab (in person, time decided by local node)
1-2 hours per week for asynchronous content: readings, videos, written assignments

Each module will culminate in a Field Activity, this activity includes developing a lesson plan with digital fabrication tools, testing the lesson plan with learners, and a written reflection on the lesson plan.

Each participant in Fab Learning Academy must register through a local node. The local node supports participants with hands-on technology training, materials and resources, and an instructor to help complete the weekly assignments.

In order to participate through a local learning node, you must first contact that node to find out if there is a seat available and the fees associated with the node.
