Wild Edible Foraging Hike
  • Night of the Living Moth

Join Julia Pope from Life & Death Designs by Julia for a unique after-dark adventure into the world of moths—some of nature’s most important yet overlooked nighttime pollinators. As the sun sets and the forest comes alive with night sounds, we’ll take a guided hike to observe and learn about the mysterious lives of moths, their role in ecosystems, and the vital work they do while the rest of the world sleeps.Along the way, we’ll use lights and bait to attract a variety of species, discuss how to identify them, and explore how moths compare to their daytime counterparts, the butterflies. Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned naturalist, this hike offers a fascinating look at a hidden world that only comes to life after dark. What to bring: A headlamp or flashlight with a red light option (to reduce disturbance), bug spray, and your sense of wonder. Difficulty: Easy to moderate, with frequent stops. Location: Powell Gardens Time: 8:30 pm Come be enchanted by the flutter of wings and the stories they tell in the stillness of night! This event is open to anyone regardless of age or gender.
