  • 2025 LULF National Scholarship & GLC Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship

  • LA UNIDAD LATINA FOUNDATION, INC., a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1999, exists to:

    • Award scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 to scholars pursuing academic excellence in higher education; AND
    • Fund community programs and student organizations dedicated to the civic empowerment in the Latino community. 

    2025 Scholarships:

    The 2025 LULF National Scholarship will be awarded at a value of $1,000 on a competitive basis to 7 undergraduate and graduate school students who meet the criteria as described below and abide by the requirements. Of the 7 national scholarships, 2 will be awarded to students with permanent residence in New York State regardless of their college or university enrollment in the U.S. 

    The Gay Latino Collective (GLC) Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship will be awared at a value of $1,000 to one undergraduate student who identifies as LGBTQ+, has a plan to study abroad, and opts to be considered for the scholarship. All of the eligibility criteria and requirements below must be met and candidates must answer one additional essay question. Graduate school students are NOT eligible for the GLC Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship. 

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Minimum cumulative GPA above 2.80, on 4.0 GPA scale. Cumulative GPAs below 2.80 do not qualify for this scholarship.
    • For undergraduate applicants, you must be enrolled on a full-time basis, in a bachelor’s program at an accredited four-year college or university. Graduates of two-year, community college students who are starting at a four-year college no later than August 2025 are also eligible to apply.
    • For graduate school applicants, eligible degrees exclusively include: Masters of Arts, Masters of Science, Masters of Public Administration, Masters of Public Policy, Masters of Social Work, Masters of Education, Masters of Divinity, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Education. Graduate students are NOT eligible for the GLC Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship.
    • At least one complete semester of full-time study. 
    • Must reside in the United States as of time of appplication. 
    • Specific for GLC Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship: TBD 

    Required Documentation: 

    • Unofficial copy of transcript upon submission of scholarship application. If selected as a finalist, applicants will be required to submit an official transcript issued by their institution.
    • 2-year, community college applicants starting at 4-year college must provide an acceptance letter from the 4-year college or university the applicant plans to attend.
    • Letter of recommendation from university administrator/faculty, or community leader describing student leadership and commitment to civic service (200-350 words).
    • Only when requested by LULF: Official university-issued academic transcript(s) and profile picture.

    Application Process:

    • Applications are only accepted during the application period ending on June 30, 2025.
    • Letters of recommendation must be uploaded to this form.
