The Charlie Bartsch Brownfield Scholarship Fund is a non-profit dedicated to:
- Nuturing environmental leadership,
- Supporting the education of talented and promising students, and
- Promoting the development of sustainable and resilient communities that can thrive for many generations into the future.
For high school seniors and undergraduate and graduate college students interested in pursuing an education in environmental remediation and sustainability, we invite you to complete the following application to be considered for the award of a scholarship from the Charlie Bartsch Brownfield Scholarship fund. Scholarship amounts range from $3,000 to $5,000.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must fit the criteria and become a student member of The Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast. Students can apply for free membership here. In addition, students must be:
- A high school senior or an undergraduate or graduate college student living in one of the BCONE member states.
- Grade point average must be a minimum of 3.0.
- Pursuing a degree with an accredited environmental science program or related field.
Evaluation Criteria:
The application deadline has been extended. Applications are now due by 5:00pm on July 18, 2025, and will be evaluated based on the following:
- A reference from your high school counselor or teacher, mentor, current college professor, a past or current employer or another individual not related to you;
- An essay that describes your education and career goals; and
- Your work experience and involvement in other activities.
