I confirm that I am voluntarily entering to participate in the 1988 Bike Club and related activities, which is organized by Eighty-Eight Brewing Co. hereinafter referred to as “Bike Club”.
I certify that:
- I am the person listed below and signing this Waiver, that I am at least 18 years old, and that I am completing this Release Agreement for myself
I understand that the Bike Club relies on this confirmation, and my accurate completion of this Waiver and Release Agreement, in allowing participation in any applicable program(s) or activity(ies) arranged by Bike Club.
I certify that I am medically able to perform physical activity and am in good health.
I acknowledge that I am participating in the activity by my own free will and at my own personal risk.
I acknowledge that cycling involves the risk of injury, including serious injury, head injury, paralysis, or death and that all such risks are known and acknowledged by me. I recognize that participation in the Bike Club is a potentially hazardous activity, and I willingly assume all risks associated with such participation, including, but not limited to: Falls; Contact with other participants or others; Vehicular or other traffic incidents; Weather effects, including heat and/or humidity, wind, cold, wet and/or slippery surface; Falling tree branches or other overhead objects; The crowded nature of the Bike Club; and any other conditions during Bike Club and associated activities.
I certify that I will obey all City of Calgary Cycling Bylaws and Regulations, including but not limited to:
- Pedal bicycles: Bicycle helmets must be worn by all bicycle riders and passengers.
- All bicycles must have the following protective equipment:
- Must have at least one working brake;
- Must be equipped with a bell or horn; and
- Must be equipped with the following when riding at dawn, dusk or in the dark:
- A white-light headlight (no more than two)
- A red-light tail light and or a red rear reflector.
- All bicycle riders: Must use the appropriate hand signals and shoulder check before turning or changing lanes.
- People cycling on pathways must obey the following City of Calgary Bylaws:
- Keep speed to a maximum 20km/hr, unless otherwise posted;
- Keep to pathways and well-established trails to protect habitat;
- Cycling with a leashed dog is not permitted on pathways;
- Be equipped with a forward facing white light and rear red reflector when riding between sunset and sunrise; and
- Use of an audible signal (such as a bell) when overtaking another pathway user.
- I agree to be a responsible cyclist and ride with care, including but not limited to:
- Ride in control and within my ability level, ensuring that I will be able to stop and avoid other people or objects.
- Protecting myself by equipping my bike with the required protective equipment, preforming regular inspections and having my bike checked by a knowledgeable and qualified bike mechanic,.
- I will not participate if my ability or judgment is impaired by drugs, alcohol, or fatigue.
- Obey signs and warnings and follow all City of Calgary Bylaws.
- Look out for others, maintain a safe cycling distance from cyclist and pedestrians.
Once executed, I hereby agree that this Release Agreement shall apply to all Bike Club and related activities, for the period of: date of execution to December 31, 2025.
I waive all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in Bike Club. I waive my ability to bring any legal action in this waiver as I am voluntarily electing to participate based on my own responsibility.
