Who are we?

Soraya Hafez Community Playground Committee

A community & parent volunteer based group dedicated to raising the funds necessary to build a community playground located adjacent to Soraya Hafez School- located at 980 McConachie Blvd, Edmonton, AB.

A sub-committee of the Horse Hill Community League
Horse Hill community league is a volunteer-run non-profit organization serving the neighborhoods of Brintnell, McConachie, Cy Becker, Quarry Ridge, and Rural North East Edmonton. With approximately 18,000 members in our growing community, we provide programs and events to bring us together.

It is very important to us that the playground be inclusive to children of all abilities and that the space be useful and welcoming to all in the community.
Our playground will be built on City of Edmonton Land. In order to build the playground in 2025, all funds must be secured by February 2025.

Due to the restrictions of the City’s development plan and that McConachie is part of a super community we do not qualify for the same amount of funding as many other projects.

While we've reached our Phase 1 goal, our vision isn't complete just yet! Phase 2 is all about adding those essential finishing touches—gazebos for shade, picnic tables for gathering, and lighting for safety and extended play. With your support, we can create a truly inviting community space for families to enjoy for years to come. Join us in making this dream a reality!
