Community Stewards is a local, community-led neighborhood cleanup effort supported by the Sanitation Foundation.
We provide neighborhood cleanup groups with training, equipment, and resources to help them take action to keep their streets clean and divert waste from landfills is a citywide initiative to create a cleaner and more sustainable city for all New Yorkers.
Members of our Community Stewards network receive:
- Digital support and resources on how to host a safe and impactful cleanup
- Participant acknowledgment and event promotion through the Sanitation Foundation’s website, social channels, and city partners
- Access to our Volunteer Hub with tools to manage volunteer registration and check-in
Please note:
- Community Steward events should be free and open to the public.
- It takes our team 1-2 business days to post new events, please share your event details as far in advance as possible (you can always make edits later).
- Event posts are restricted to the 5 boroughs and should take only take place on public property.
- We can only offer equipment support through our tool grant program. Groups must provide their tools or arrange to borrow tools through DSNY's Tool Loan Program.
