Scholarship Criteria 

The following criteria will be used to evaluate each applicant:

• Personal Essay:  All applicants must submit a personal essay of at least 500 words about what three (3) of the five (5) principles means to you: Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship, Brotherhood, or Fidelity.
• Interview Requirement: Finalists must participate in a virtual or in-person interview as part of the selection process.
• Community Service/Event: The scholarship reciever must be committed to attending at least one event hosted by the Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter within the calendar year to be awarded the scholarship.
• Deadline: Application and all materials must be submitted December 30, 2025. Late or incomplete application submissions will not be reviewed. The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by Februrary 2, 2026.

Eligibility Requirments

Scholarship applicants must meet the following eligibility requirments to be considered: 

• Residency: Must be a current resident of the State of Arizona. 
• Ethnicity & Gender: Must be a male of African American/Black decent or a person of color.
• Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA): All applicants must have a 2.50 GPA or higher. 
• Academic Standing: Must be enrolled as a freshman, sophomore, or junior at an accredited university or community college.
• Extracurricular Involvement: Must demonstrate active participation in extracurricular activities (e.g., school organizations, community service, athletics, etc.).
• Transcripts: All applicants must provide an unofficial college/university transcript.
