  • The Board Development Committee is accepting applications for two Girl Board Director positions.

    All applications will be reviewed by the Board Development Committee and interviews will be conducted. The selected candidates will be placed on the slate for election at the 2026 Annual Meeting to serve a one-year term.

    Position Description

    The Board of Directors is an elected group of volunteers who represent our council’s membership and reflect its racial, ethnic, geographic, gender, and age diversity. They establish policy to determine the organization’s direction, influence budget, executive hiring, and strategy. Applicants must commit to attending regularly scheduled board meetings as well as acting as a Girl Scout liaison, ambassador, and spokesperson. While in this Governance position, the Girl Scout may also hold an Operational position,  such as employment by the council in a camp staff position during the same one-year term.

    Eligibility:

    • Be a registered Girl Scout for the 2025-2026 Membership Year and maintain an active membership throughout their time on the board.
    • Be at least 16 years of age by March 7, 2026.

    Expectations:

    • Serve a one-year term.
    • Attend and complete Board Director Orientation and training.
    • Accept the principles, beliefs, and purpose of Girl Scouting.
    • Be able to express yourself clearly.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Represent the girl voice at meetings and events.
    • Possess mature judgement, flexibility, and enthusiasm, and the ability to follow through with commitments.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attend Board meetings, typically held virtually (five per year) and an annual in-person Board Retreat, along with special meetings as needed.
    • Attend Annual Meeting (March) either in-person or virtually.
    • Attend Delegate Meetings (May and November) either in-person or virtually.
    • Be available to attend the annual meeting on March 7, 2026.
    • Serve on one Board Committee
    • Re-register as a Girl Scout for the membership year of your term.

    How to apply:

    • Submit the following signed application by Midnight, Sunday, November 2, 2025.
    • Include:
      • Two references (with phone number and e-mail address) - one from a Girl Scout adult member and one from a non-Girl Scout adult, both must be unrelated to you.
      • A personal essay of no more than five hundred words that describes your Girl Scouting experience, why you are applying for this position, and how you would use your position to benefit the Girl Scouts in our council if elected to this position.

    Please review the application with your parent or guardian, who must sign and provide permission to apply for the Girl Board Director position.
