TRANSPORTER (hands-on opportunity): Transport animals from the Rocky Mount, NC shelter to rescues, shelters, or foster homes. Needs are shared within a group chat, and you select the routes you would like to take. Must have own vehicle. Kennels and carriers provided. Gas money available if needed. Typically, routes are within 2 hours from Rocky Mount, NC.
NETWORKER (remote opportunity): Share the shelter animals on social media and contact rescues via social media, phone and email to find those able to help.
SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT CREATOR (remote opportunity): Create content for our social media pages to showcase the shelter animals, locate adopters and rescues, pledges, transport help, etc. Experience preferred.
FOSTER PARENT (hands-on opportunity): Host animals temporarily in your home. All supplies are provided (food, kennel, litter, etc.). Fostering can be as little as 1 night or every night until adopted. We will work with you to determine if you would prefer short-term or long-term fostering.
EVENT PLANNER / FUNDRAISER (hands-on opportunity): Assist with planning and coordinating fundraising events, donation drives, and community outreach activities that support the Rocky Mount Animal Shelter and RMAA’s mission. Duties may include contacting local businesses for sponsorships or donations, organizing raffles, designing event materials, and assisting with logistics. Great for creative individuals who enjoy teamwork and making connections in the community.
EVENT VOLUNTEER (hands-on opportunity): Help during community events such as Pack the Pallet, Trunk or Treat, adoption events, and fundraisers. Tasks may include greeting visitors, collecting donations, handing out flyers, setting up tables, or representing RMAA at local businesses. Perfect for outgoing volunteers who enjoy being part of the action and meeting fellow animal lovers.
