    Heights and Weights

To be eligible to fly in the front seat of one of our Piper PA28 training aircraft, there is a weight limit of 17 stone (238 lbs or 108 Kg). Should a hoist be required to allow access into the aircraft, the weight limit for this activity is 15 ¾ stone (220 lbs or 100kg) at Blackbushe, 14 stones (209 lbs or 95Kg) at Tatenhill and Lydd.

For people who exceed this weight, up to 20 stone (280 lbs or 127 Kg), there is the potential to utilise our larger PA-32 Cherokee 6 at Blackbushe should this be required.

Customers over 6ft 4ins (193 cm) or under 5ft (152cm), or those with particular physical disabilities should contact us in advance to ensure that suitable arrangements can be in place.

  • This weight allows you to fly in our PA-28 aircraft at all sites, using the hoist for access if necessary

  • This weight will allow you to fly in our PA-28 aircraft at all sites, but hoisting can only be performed at Blackbushe. it is above the limit for hoisting at Tatenhill or Lydd

  • This weight will allow you to fly in our PA-28 aircraft at all sites, but is above the limit of the hoist for access

  • This weight is above the limit for the PA-28 aircraft, but may be possible in the PA-32 at Blackbushe. Hoisting for access will not be possible

  • Please view this short video for information about accessing our aircraft

  • Flying in a light aircraft, being at an airport, or even in an unfamiliar environment, can be a unique and intense experience for anyone. For someone with autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), or anybody who is anxious, it may present specific sensory and emotional challenges. If you think this might apply to you please take a look at our guide of what to expect, as well as some possible techniques to manage the flight or the day.

  • For Aerobatic Flights you may experience forces between +4g positive and -1g negative, so please ensure that you are fit enough to cope with these forces (like being on a rollercoaster) and discuss any concerns fully with the instructor before the flight.
