  • Team Expectations and Standards

    1. Attendance and Punctuality: Players are expected to attend all practices, games, and team events on time. Consistent attendance shows dedication and commitment to the team.
    2. Work Ethic: Coaches typically expect players to give their best effort during practices and games. This includes hustling, diving for loose balls, and giving 100% effort in drills and scrimmages.
    3. Skill Development: Players are expected to work on improving their basketball skills throughout the summer. This may involve attending skill development sessions, working on individual drills, and seeking feedback from coaches.
    4. Team Chemistry: Building strong relationships and communication among teammates is crucial for success. Players are expected to support and encourage each other both on and off the court.
    5. Fitness and Conditioning: Basketball is a physically demanding sport, so players are usually expected to maintain a certain level of fitness and conditioning during the summer. This may involve participating in strength and conditioning programs including individual training sessions, weight sessions, and team practices.
    6. Sportsmanship: Players are expected to display good sportsmanship at all times, including showing respect for opponents, officials, and teammates. Unsportsmanlike conduct, such as arguing with referees or trash-talking opponents, is typically not tolerated.
    7. Representing the Program: Players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the team and program, both on and off the court. This may include adhering to a code of conduct or dress code. This especially holds true when on out-of-town trips.
    8. Communication: Players are typically expected to communicate with coaches regarding any issues or concerns they may have, as well as to keep coaches informed of their progress and development.
    9. Playing Time: The summer is an opportunity to grow and work on skills that time may not permit during the school year. In saying that, Bullard Basketball is a highly competitive program and summer basketball is no different. Playing time will be given based on skill, effort, and competitiveness so not everyone will play equally. The goal is to get everyone a chance during the summer but this is not guaranteed.
    10. Parent Participation: Parents will be required to work 2 shifts at the fireworks booth the week of June 30-July 4th.
