Dear Presbytery Members, As we begin the search for our next Presbytery leadership, we invite you to share your insights. Your feedback will help us understand what our congregations need and what qualities are most important in our new presbytery leader. This survey reflects our presbytery’s commitment to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s Matthew 25 initiative, focusing on congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty. 1. Congregational Needs: In your view, what are the most important needs or challenges facing your congregation (or the presbytery’s congregations) you hope the next Presbytery leader will address? (Short answer – e.g., a few sentences about pressing needs such as leadership support, growth, mission, etc.)
2. Congregational Vitality: “Building congregational vitality” means helping churches thrive and become more vibrant. What does a vital, thriving congregation look like to you, and how can the presbytery (and the next Presbytery leader) support your congregation’s vitality?(Short answer – share examples of what makes a church community vibrant and what support or resources would help.)
3. Dismantling Structural Racism: One focus of Matthew 25 is dismantling structural racism (actively working to overcome racism and promote equity). What steps would you like to see our presbytery take to confront racism and encourage inclusion, and how should our next Presbytery leader lead us in these efforts? (Short answer – suggest actions or initiatives to foster racial justice within our churches and communities.)
4. Eradicating Systemic Poverty: Another Matthew 25 focus is eradicating systemic poverty (addressing poverty and its causes in our communities). How should the presbytery engage with issues of poverty, and what role can the next Presbytery leader play in helping congregations serve those in need and work for economic justice? (Short answer – share thoughts on partnerships, missions, or programs to help alleviate poverty and how presbytery leadership can support these efforts.)
