  • We kindly request that all adults visiting camp for any amount of time during the summer read and sign the acknowledgement below:

Camp Ramah in California works to protect youth as part of our commitment to the Jewish value of Kavod Ha’briyot (safeguarding God’s creations) and our respect for the sacredness of childhood.

As a staff member, guest, or visitor, I acknowledge and agree to abide by Camp Ramah’s youth safeguarding practices, both within and outside of work/volunteer hours, which include:

    • Ensuring that my interactions with youth are both observable and interruptible; other adults will know of my interactions and can interrupt or view them.
    • Modeling clear physical and emotional boundaries with youth. In situations where physical touch might be appropriate or necessary, making sure to obtain consent. (See Camp Ramah’s Staff handbook for additional details and guidelines on appropriate touch.)
    • Avoiding appearances of favoritism toward any particular youth.
    • Refraining from posting images or recordings of youth. Only employees working as photographers or videographers for Camp Ramah may upload images or videos of campers with supervision from Camp Administration.
    • Taking proactive steps to minimize maltreatment and remaining alert to risk.
    • Reporting any concerns related to the welfare of a youth by seeking immediate advice from Camp Directors. Suspected child abuse will be reported according to California mandated reporter requirements.
    • Understanding that reports of child maltreatment may result in suspension and findings of child maltreatment will result in dismissal.

This document highlights some of the expectations contained in our Staff Handbook and is intended to complement, not supplant that content.
